Prior to Logos Capital Strategies, Mr. Marino served as an operational consultant and CEO coach to a variety of different founder-owned companies. His primary focus was preparing owners to execute near-term growth strategies and prepare for an eventual exit. Previously, Mr. Marino was the Chief Executive Officer of Plantation Patterns LLC, a designer and manufacturer of high-quality outdoor cushions, decorative pillows and umbrellas sold in Target, Home Depot, Lowes, Costco and other fine retailers. Plantation Patterns was a leader in the industry, winning awards from retailers for execution, innovation, and product design. Mr. Marino sold Plantation in late 2016 to NBG Home / Kohlberg & Company. Prior to Plantation Patterns, Mr. Marino spent over 20 years in the family-owned business, Shop-A-Snak Food Mart, founded by his father in 1964. Started as a local chain of small grocery stores, Shop-A-Snak Food Mart evolved and expanded into an industry leading convenience store chain spanning from north Alabama to the Florida Panhandle. In addition to the convenience stores, their family of companies included Marco Petroleum, a wholesale fuel distributor and the largest Exxon Mobil products distributor in Alabama, along with Greensprings Associates, a real estate development company. Mr. Marino was President of this conglomerate of companies when they were sold to The Pantry, Inc. (a.k.a. Kangaroo Express) in 2006. Mr. Marino has an accounting degree from Auburn University.
Prior to Logos Capital Strategies, EJ Marino, III worked in sell-side investment banking at Founders Advisors as an associate on the Industrials team. Founders Advisors is a boutique investment bank focusing on founder-owned companies in the Southeast. While at Founders, EJ was primarily responsible for supporting transactions in deal execution and participated in numerous engagements across the industrial sector. Specific industry experience includes HVAC distribution, plumbing wholesale, industrial valve repair and distribution, pipeline inspection, building product distribution, and fastener distribution. Prior to working at Founders, EJ was an intern in KPMG's Deal Advisory and Strategy group in Atlanta. EJ graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Accountancy from Auburn University, and Magna Cum Laude with an M.S. in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame.
